Share-A-Book Saturday (10)

This is something I found over on Just Another Book Addict =), and I thought I'd do my own. There are so many great books out there that get overlooked (especially if they've been out for a while)!

Every Saturday, you share (recommend) a book, preferably one that you haven't reviewed yet. It's just a way to get other books out into the blogging world. This is NOT a review.

Today I'm going to recommend Wolf Tower by Tanith Lee.

All her life, Claidi has endured hardship in the House, where she must obey a spoiled princess. Then a golden stranger arrives, living proof of a world beyond the House walls. Claidi risks all to free the charming prisoner and accompanies him across the Waste toward his faraway home. It is a difficult yet marvelous journey, and all the while Claidi is at the side of a man she could come to love. That is, until they reach his home . . . and the Wolf Tower. (Product description from Amazon.com.)

I read this book a few years ago and loved it. The world that Tanith Lee created was wonderfully realized and absolutely delicious. It reminded me of something out of the Arabian Nights... but with more interesting characters and some intriguing fantasy elements. And yes, there is some romance, too.

The problem was, I liked this first book so much that the subsequent books in the series were a disappointment. I read the second and third books (the fourth had yet to be released at that time), and they seemed to get progressively worse. However, Wolf Tower can stand on its own, and I think it's definitely worth reading. Claidi's is a voice in young adult fiction that you won't soon forget.
