In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!
This week's question comes from Christina @ The Paperback Princesses:
"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"
Of course I do! I hate coming into anything in the middle: TV shows, movies, books, etc. That's probably the reason I haven't read Ursula K. Le Guin's Voices yet. I found the hardcover at a great price, but I didn't realize that it was book #2 in a trilogy. Apparently, you can get away with reading it on its own, but I'd prefer to start from the beginning. I don't want to feel lost.
Hey, just stopping by for the Hop, thanks for coming to my blog! I love you header, it's so pretty! New follower here =]
ReplyDeleteHi, I am here at your lovely blog from the Hop! I prefer to read the first book in a series, and then read subsequent books, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading! :)
I don't always but I usually start at the beginning of a series. Sometimes a book comes your way and it's not the first. After reading it you want the rest. Happened to me recently. :)
ReplyDeleteOld follower just stopping by to say Hi!
Hi there! Just hoppin' on by. <3 I'm an old follower! :D
ReplyDeleteI can't start something in the middle either - I HAVE to start with the first of something!
Kristina @ Frazzled Book Nommer. Have a good weekend! <3
I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
ReplyDeletedoesn't run chronologically.
That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.
On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.
Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

ReplyDeleteI feel the same way, I have to start from the beginning of series.
Hopping by to say hello! I mostly read books in order, just because the series makes more sense that way.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
