The companion to She Persisted.

Women around the world have long dreamed big, even when they've been told their dreams didn't matter. They've spoken out, risen up and fought for what's right, even when they've been told to be quiet. Whether in science, the arts, sports or activism, women and girls throughout history have been determined to break barriers and change the status quo. They haven't let anyone get in their way and have helped us better understand our world and what's possible. In this book, Chelsea Clinton introduces readers to a group of thirteen incredible women who have shaped history all across the globe.

(synopsis from Goodreads)

I read She Persisted last year and was impressed. She Persisted Around the World is just as lovely a celebration of women's achievements, but it takes a broader focus, including women from outside the United States. Some names are familiar, while others will likely be new to young readers. But each mini bio shows that women can accomplish great things and effect change when they're allowed to share their gifts with the world.

The illustrations are just as nice here as they are in She Persisted. I also like the quotes that are included for each figure.

Both She Persisted and She Persisted Around the World are great books to help empower young girls to go for their goals and stand up for their beliefs. As with the first book, highly recommended!
