From the author-illustrator of The Book of Mistakes comes a gorgeous picture book about caring for your own heart and living with kindness and empathy.

My heart is a window. My heart is a slide. My heart can be closed...or opened up wide.

Some days your heart is a puddle or a fence to keep the world out. But some days it is wide open to the love that surrounds you.

With lyrical text and breathtaking art, My Heart empowers all readers to listen to the guide within in this ode to love and self-acceptance.

(synopsis from Goodreads)

This is a beautiful little book about... well, the metaphorical heart. It's about love and heartbreak, empathy and kindness, and all the other wonderful (and not-so-wonderful) emotions that come with being human.

The illustrations, done in a limited colour palette, are really quite striking and help highlight the gentle sentiments of the book. There's no plot, really, other than the story of feeling and being human.

I'd recommend this one for the pictures alone. The text is beautiful, but without the illustrations, it wouldn't have the same impact.

Quotable moment:
