Slow...

My reading has been a bit slow lately.  I've been reading a riveting non-fiction book (The World Peace Diet), so my fiction reads have taken a bit of a backseat in the last couple of weeks.  I'm going to make a concerted effort to change that, though, and get through the two fiction titles that I'm in the middle of.  The Lost Hours and The Magician's Elephant are both fairly good, so it shouldn't be too much of a chore to get through them once I put my mind to it.

In looking for something else entirely, I stumbled across this post that I wrote back in August of 2009.  I think if I wrote it today, after another year and a half of reading some pretty bad YA fiction, the tone would be a lot more snarky... and a lot less kind.

Read How to Write Your Very Own Young Adult Paranormal Romance.  And don't be afraid to leave your thoughts!

  1. Your 'Write your own' post is hilarious. I'm reading Alyson Noel's Immortals (book 1) at the moment and it fits exactly with what you said. Although, so does Twilight. XDD

  2. Hah, I remember that post and it's still funny! (and true)

My reading's been slow too-I've been reading non-fiction travel books for school and they're proving to be very interesting (so far. I still have like 3 or 4 books left to read). The World Peace Diet--that's a cool title.

Anyway, I hope your book stays riveting for you and that you have a similar experience with the other two. Happy reading :)

  3. haha Your post about how to write a paranormal romance is so true! It is a sad truth. Twilight comes to mind; and, of course, a handful of other books/sagas. I think that, for starters, a nice change in the genre would be if the characters were over 20 and not related to high school in any way.
