It seems weird that the second book in the series should be that much better than the first; usually, it's the other way around!La Coccinellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03118313017081994087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8107652553845392650.post-80808004914033180742015-01-16T15:23:00.254-08:002015-01-16T15:23:00.254-08:00I have to echo what some others have been saying: ...I have to echo what some others have been saying: it gets better. I too wasn't overly thrilled with Throne of Glass, in fact I didn't even read the second one till I had absolutely nothing else to read. However, the second one made me in love. It was so much better!! Even if you're remotely interested in this series, I would recommend reading the second one:)

Also, thanks for stopping by A Splash of Ink!Sunny Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10185336977090257875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8107652553845392650.post-13835772274874487382015-01-14T17:00:14.079-08:002015-01-14T17:00:14.079-08:00Maybe that was why I was kind of disappointed. Actually, at least with the first book, it's kind of a romance, not a hardcore fantasy. Tara (T. T. I didn't want to read any negative reviews, though, as they often contain more spoilers. I kind of liked the beginning, which didn't help; I figured it would stay good or get better... not get worse!

It's interesting... I read a review yesterday from someone who'd read the original version as it was published online. This person raved about it... and then when they got their hands on the official Throne of Glass from the publisher, they only gave it 2 stars, they were so disappointed. It sounds like a very different book. I wonder what the full story behind all those changes is...La Coccinellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03118313017081994087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8107652553845392650.post-20555024942871618792015-01-13T15:40:50.013-08:002015-01-13T15:40:50.013-08:00I'm glad that the action is good. The author has to show her cleverness not just tell us about it. She seriously ate the candy?! hahaha! I hate head jumping. It can be jarring and confusing.

Thanks for warning me that it isn't quite up to all of the hype. I'll lower my expectations and then I can only be pleasantly surprised. ;)
Molly Mortensenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09321341454204254615noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8107652553845392650.post-2924249685707797532015-01-13T11:04:21.816-08:002015-01-13T11:04:21.816-08:00I've heard a few people say this. I guess it'll depend on whether I can find these sequels at the library... because I'm leery of paying money for books I'm not sure I'm going to like, especially if I wasn't crazy about the first books in the series.La Coccinellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03118313017081994087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8107652553845392650.post-64456643896444743122015-01-13T11:00:08.675-08:002015-01-13T11:00:08.675-08:00Thanks. :) Yeah, I do wish we'd been shown m...Thanks. :) Yeah, I do wish we'd been shown more kick-assery. I found that part of the "character development" a bit weird. I mean, an author could say their character was anything... but they should be able to back it up with what they show the reader.La Coccinellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03118313017081994087noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8107652553845392650.post-90333915433974690142015-01-13T01:40:35.482-08:002015-01-13T01:40:35.482-08:00I didn't like Throne of Glass either! Here, I felt that Celaena wasn't as kick ass as the author said her to be, because not once are we shown how kick-ass she is.

Great and balanced review! <33Melaniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17035338608975371558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8107652553845392650.post-57068825215015310502015-01-13T01:34:02.371-08:002015-01-13T01:34:02.371-08:00Ooh, I never thought about the candy like that, bu...Ooh, I never thought about the candy like that, but you are right. That is totally dumb. :( Okay, but I do LOVE and adore this book! And I have a friend who, like you, really didn't like the first book, but the second turned her into a die-hard fan.
