Tea Party Blog Tag

In celebration of their 3rd blogoversary, The Notebook Sisters are hosting a week-long Alice in Wonderland-themed blog party.  To begin the festivities, they've invited other bloggers to play Tea Party Blog Tag.  Check out their blog to learn how to play.

Let's have some tea!

1. Just Alice: What book cover(s) has made you super curious?

Dream Boy by Mary Crockett and Madelyn Rosenberg.  A YA paranormal romance without a girl in a pretty dress on the cover?  Colour me intrigued.

2. Mad Hatter: List the craziest character(s) you've ever read.

I would, but the telling you about the craziest character I've ever read will be a huge spoiler if you ever read the book.

3. Red Queen, Off With Your Head! What book have you felt like beheading?

Vivian Versus the Apocalypse by Katie Coyle.  My review sums up why I hated this one so much.

4. White Rabbit: What books or series have been insanely popular but you've been "late" to pick them up?

I was late to the party for the Daughter of Smoke & Bone series by Laini Taylor.  I still haven't read the second book, even though I loved the first.

5. Caterpillar: What's the most confusing book you've read?

More Than This by Patrick Ness.  It was confusing because I was never sure what was really going on and also because lots of people think it's amazing.  Did I miss something?

6. Dormouse: What was the last book that sent you to sleep?

If a book is that boring, I generally won't even finish it.  However, audiobooks sometimes put me to sleep.  The last one that did was Gossamer by Lois Lowry.

7. Cheshire Cat: Book that made you laugh and smile?

Forrest Gump by Winston Groom.  I read it many years ago, and I still remember laughing out loud.  The sequel is also pretty funny.

8. Knave of Hearts: Most recent character who stole your heart?

I had to go all the way back to last September for this one: Li from The Lake and the Library by S. M. Beiko.

9. Jabberwocky: Best villain you've read this year?

Ty from Stolen by Lucy Christopher.  He was more than just a one-dimensional bad guy, and I liked that.

10. Down the Rabbit Hole: What's the latest book/series/author that's completely swallowed your interest?

I haven't been really sucked in by anything since I read Isaac Marion's Warm Bodies last year.  I'd love to read the prequel and sequel one day.

  1. *whispers* I haven't read the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series either! I keep requesting it from my library, but get intimidated and send it back for some reason.*

I don't typically listen to audiobooks - they bore me as well - but I absolutely LOVE Lois Lowry's writing, so I'm sorry to hear that Gossamer disappointed you. :(

I definitely agree about your villain choice. Ty is such a complex character and villain, so I don't blame you for listing him.

Thanks so much for sharing, and, as always, GREAT answers! <3

  2. *raises hand guiltily* I, um, haven't read Daughter of Smoke and Bone yet either. >_< I WANT TO THOUGH. It's just...gah. So many series I'm very behind in. I was very disappointed with Gossamer. Didn't feel like any of her other works. :| And I totally get that for More Than This! I just finished it and I'm aboslutely torn between loving and hating it. I do NOT understand the logistics behind the book (I mean, could those people really survive in "perfect" conditions like that??) but the writing was quite beautiful, imo. x)
Thanks for linking up with us!! It was awesomely fun to read your answers. XD

  3. Oh no, I'm sad to hear you wanted to behead Vivian Versus the Apocalypse! I've been torn about whether to check out that book for a while now...

I was late to the party for Daughter of Smoke and Bone too! Read the first one a couple weeks ago, but I've yet to read the second one either. And yeah, I loved the first! I'm just... apprehensive of whether the second one will live up to my expectations now. Also I just have way too many things on my TBR pile, haha.

Hmm... More Than This is on my TBR pile for next month. I decided that I should probably finally check it out due to the hype and the fact that it's UKYA with a gay character, and I'm kind of interested in reviewing more UKYA for my blog (I live in the UK but hardly read any UKYA, lol). I hope I don't find it too confusing. x__x

Here's my tea party blog tag post!

  5. OK so your answer to question 3 has aroused my curiosity .... I WANT TO KNOW NOW! :L

Hmm, I have read A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness but not More Than This .... though it does have a beautiful cover. I've heard his books are very confusing .... my friend who read The Knife of Never Letting Go says it was one of the weirdest books she's ever read.

I reaaaallly want to read Warm Bodies! I didn't know it was a book at first, I just thought it was a rubbish-looking zombie film, and when I found out it was a book I was pretty contemptuous, but then I saw some of the most beautiful quotations from it on Goodreads. And now I want it.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! :)
